Hearing in references against Benazir and Asif Zardari adjourned

The Accountability Courts have adjourned hearing in seven different references against Benazir Bhutto and Asif Zardari and former FIA Director General Rehman Malik to October 31 on receiving stay orders from Supreme Court on issuance of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO)-2007.
Courts No 3 and 4 resumed hearing here on Tuesday on plea for withdrawal of the Corruption references in accordance with National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), 2007. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor General Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhutta appeared on behalf of NAB and pleaded that the copy of stay order on NRO had not been received.
The counsel of Benazir, Farooq Naik, argued in Court No 4 that investigations about Polo Ground reference started before October 12, 1999. So the case may also be withdrawn according to NRO. The court instructed NAB to submit reply on the point raised by defence lawyer on next hearing.
Khalid Mehmood, Judge, Accountability Court No 4 adjourned hearing regarding Polo Ground and SGS Tractors till October 31. Similarly, Judge Accountability Court No 3, Sagheer Ahmed Qadri also deferred hearing regarding making illegal property, import of duty-free BMW and SGS Cotecna till October 31.
