The turnover of Utility Stores Corporation (USC) would be expanded to Rs 10 billion per month with the establishment of 6,000 stores across the country by the end of this year.
This was stated by Managing Director USC, Brigadier Hafeez Ahmed (Retd), at a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with Maaza Pakistan (Pvt) limited to provide quality juices at affordable prices to its consumers, here on Monday.
Hafeez said that USC was playing a positive role in the sales and distribution of essential consumer items at reduced prices to extend the benefit of the subsidised prices to a large segment of the population.
The aim of USC is not to earn money rather to serve the nation especially the poor, he added. He said that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had directed for expanding the USC with the establishment of 22 ware houses and opening of 5,000 new stores at Union Council level.
This shows that the government is striving to facilitate people without discrimination as new stores were being opened both in rural and urban areas. The people will be able to get benefit at their doorsteps, he added.
