Seed prices sharply higher; Irri falls

Seed prices went up sharply on the grain market on Wednesday as supply was tight due to transportation problem after holidays and abnormal situation in the city, dealers said. On the rice sector, Irri-white low type was lower by Rs 300 to Rs 1350 and good type was down by Rs 200 to Rs 1500. Other items did not move any side, they said.
On the seed side, rapeseed Nawabshah gained Rs 300 to Rs 1490-1500, they said. Rapeseed Dadulane followed suit and picked up about same amount at Rs 1250-1275, Mirpurlan rose by Rs 325 to Rs 1425-1450. Cake was higher by Rs 35 to Rs 475-480, they said.
On the cereal side masoor Canada plus Rs 100 to Rs 4400, urad from Burma low type was higher by Rs 70 to Rs 1550, the better type was down by Rs 40 to Rs 1610, they said. Wheat new fell by Rs 20 to Rs 1585. The old quality did not show any change in the overnight level at Rs 1550, they said.
