Attique lauds US help in quake-hit areas

Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan on Thursday appreciating the timely US assistance to victims in earthquake hit areas said that friendship between the two countries continued to strengthen day by day.
He was speaking as chief guest in a function organised by USAID to celebrate its first year achievements of " Revitalising, Innovating and Strengthening Education" (Rise) project.
The Rise has been working in the earthquake affected areas in the country to "build back better" educational infrastructure and to deliver high quality education to children. Sardar Attique lauded the aim of the Rise project to provide comprehensive integrated support to field communities, teachers and education officials.
Elaborating the vision of his government, AJK Prime Minister said that government had been striving hard to achieve twin objectives that are: to build a strong base of education at the elementary level and to popularise purposeful and market-oriented education at the higher levels.
He said that despite confronting dire constraints, the government has been successful in materialising the foundational element of education. Sardar Attique said that modern engineering and technology university, women university in the public sector and medical university in the private sector were being set up in AJK to provide quality higher education to students. He also lauded the crucial diplomatic and political US support for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.
