Traffic on Airport Road to be diverted

Islamabad International Airport receives 30 to 40 domestic and international flights from Sunday to Friday, causing traffic mess at Airport Road and Rawalpindi Traffic Police (RTP) has decided to divert traffic from Airport Road to ease jams.
The traffic diversion would be effective for two days ie, Monday and Friday from 6.30 to 9.30 am and all traffic leading to Islamabad through Airport Road would be diverted to Rawal Road from Chauhan Chowk, said Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Sabir Ahmed here on Thursday while addressing a press conference.
He said only people having tickets would be allowed to move towards airport. Sabir Ahmed told reporters that more than 15,000 vehicles passed through airport road during these three hours, which is causing problems for handling traffic. There is already parking problem at airport, which is adding to the traffic problems, he added.
