641 human smugglers arrested during nine months

The Government has successfully curbed the crime of human smuggling by 56 per cent arrested more than 641 human smugglers during the first 9 months of 2007. Most of the these arrested smugglers were linked with established networks crime network working in Europe and America, said sources in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday.
The government, interior Ministry and concerned agencies have adopted comprehensive strategy to eliminate human smuggling has helped reducing crime rate by 56 per cent, he said referring to the chart about the number of arrested criminals. It shows 641 smugglers involved in this crime were arrested this year, 1442in 2006 1006 in 2005 and more than 300 were arrested and in 2004.
Meanwhile, a report of the Interior Ministry has revealed that 11 officials of the FIA were also taken to task for their involvement in human smuggling. The report stated that the number of illegal immigrants to Iran and Oman is increasing every year.
