NWFP fisheries department told to breed rare fish

26 Oct, 2007

Chairman Wapda Shakeel Durrani has instructed the Fisheries Department of NWFP to breed the rare fish in Mangla, Tarbela and Rawal reservoirs. One-year seeds stocking for the purpose has been done the other day in the presence of Wapda Fisheries officials.
Wapda owned water reservoirs play a major role in meeting the protection needs of people through production of fresh water fish yearly. Mahseer is a rear cold water fish, which is being preserved in NWFP. These efforts were started by present Chairman Wapda during his stay in NWFP as Chief Secretary. This effort will develop tourist activity in the area as well as developing employment opportunities for the local people.
