CRDI helping export of cement to India

26 Oct, 2007

The Cement Research and Development Institute (CRDI) is testing the ordinary portland cement helping Pakistan's cement exports to India. The limestone reserves, a basic raw material for cement manufacturing, are depleting at an astonishing rate in India and expected to be exhausted by 2030.
Pakistan, whose production capacity is 38 million tonnes with a surplus of 13 million tonnes, can export cement to India. The institute is conducting cement and allied material testing as per British and American cement standards for OPC, SRC, while the cement and slag cement testing service launched as per the Indian cement standards IS-8112-1989 (43 grade cement) and IS-12269-1987 (53 grade cement).
The institute has a facility for special and routine cement testing to determine heat of hydration, slag activity index, cement aggregate ratio, specific gravity, air content and autoclave expansion values in the cement.
