Demarcation notified goths ordered around Karachi

27 Oct, 2007

Sindh Local Government Minister Muhmmed Hussain has asked Gothabad and Revenue authorities to conduct joint survey of notified Goths around Karachi to ascertain factual data of houses and their inhabitants.
He issued the directive, while presiding over a meeting of Liaison Committee set-up for resolving land disputes of Malir Development Authority (MDA) and Lyari Development Authority (LDA) at his office here on Friday. Among others, the meeting was also attended by Special Secretary Housing Ali Azhar Baloch.
The minister said that measurement of existing notified Goths should also be initiated to discourage land grabbers, who tried to occupy land in the name of Goths.
The meeting decided that poles indicating limits of notified Goths be also erected. Mohammed Hussain asked the Revenue authorities to activate the zonal committees announced earlier in this regard. He said the government would not allow land mafia to occupy government land as it caused hurdles in planning and expansion of various development projects.
He described demarcation of existing notified Goths as necessary to ensure that only genuine villages were benefited from government sponsored development schemes.
He observed that various land mafia groups emerged overnight in a locality in the name of a Goth, which could not be tolerated. LG Minister directed the Managing Directors of MDA and LDA and Project Director Scheme-33 to extend all possible assistance to Board of Revenue and Gothabad scheme so as to facilitate genuine villagers.
The meeting was attended by Sindh Katchi Abadies Authority (SKAA) Director General Ali Ahmed Lund, LDA Director General Sarfraz Khan, MDA Director General Amirzada Kohati and officials of Revenue and Gothabad.
