Mepco employees rally against salaries' cut

Workers of Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) Tuesday staged a rally to protest the alleged deduction in their salaries by the management of the power utility. The protest rally, which was attended by more than 500 workers of MEPCO, was led by leaders of Wapda Hydro Power Central Labour Union, Malik Saeed Ahmed.
Sajjad Baloch, Rao Muhammad Akram, Anwar Awan and others. The protestors holding banner and placards in favour of their demands were chanting slogans against WAPDA and government. Later, they also staged a demonstration in front of Multan Press Club.
They said that privatisation of WAPDA and division it into distribution companies would not be accepted. They demanded revision of their pay scales keeping in view the rate of inflation and price hike of essential commodities. Wapda Paigham Union leaders Salim Abbas Gilani, Farhan Shabbir Hashmi and Khuda Bakhsh Bosan also endorsed these demands and said that they would violently react to privatisation of Wapda.
