The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Wednesday warned that suicide attacks would play havoc with the national economy and also affect adversely on life of the common man.
Condemning the recent suicide attacks in Rawalpindi and Karachi, FPCCI President Tanvir Ahmad Sheikh said that killing of innocent people by unwarranted suicide attacks in various parts of the country was not the answer to solutions within the tenets of Islam.
He said that prudent economic policies, being pursued by the government and restoration of the confidence of foreign investors, had started yielding positive impact on national economy.
He said the business community was above all other considerations than economy. "It has the firm conviction that if the tendency of suicide attacks were not checked forthwith, it would reverse the entire economic progress."
He said that political parties must extend their whole-hearted cooperation to the government to help create conducive environment for the growth of further economy and Pakistan's image abroad.
Veteran trade leader, FPCCI former president and Co-Chairman Businessman Panel Iftikhar Ali Malik said it was high time for people especially political parties to forge unity in their ranks to thwart the nefarious designs of anti-state elements who bent upon sabotaging peaceful atmosphere.
He said that in the prevailing scenario worldwide, it was an admitted fact that survival of any nation or country rested on sound economic. He said nations like former Soviet Union faced the music and had to be dismembered because of bleak and fractured economy.
Iftikhar Ali Malik said that for smooth flow of foreign investment in every sphere of life and all sectors, peaceful growth-oriented atmosphere coupled with better law and order was a pre-requisite. He said in Karachi suicide attack alone, nation suffered billions of rupees of loss and most of the export orders could not be shipped to their desired destination.
He made an impassioned appeal to all political parties to be united on the agenda in the greater national interest and play their active role to stamp out the menace of suicidal attacks and acts of violence and frustrate the evil designs of anti-Pakistan forces. He assured that entire business community would lend full help to the state to assist in war against terrorism.
