The district government has launched crackdown on illegal commercialisation and mushrooming of unregistered factories in different areas of the city. The crackdown against illegal commercialisation was being taken at the orders of District Nazim Raja Javed Ikhlas.
EDO Municipal Services office had initially served notices to about 96 illegal commercial buildings and 600 illegal factories operating in the city. According to the department that district government could generate revenue amounting to Rs 12 million by registering these illegal structures and factories.
Nazim had also directed all union councils to provide a list of illegal commercial buildings and factories to EDO Municipal Services. Besides, registration of these factories were necessary for the safety of citizen as many hazardous factories were located in residential colonies and stored inflammable chemical in godowns without any proper storage system.
