Foreign observers to monitor polls: ICHR

The International Commission for Human Rights (ICHR), says more than 60 foreign observers would be in Pakistan soon to monitor the coming general elections 2008. According to ICHR Secretariat Spokesman on Saturday, these observers would start arriving here just after the general elections' schedule is announced.
They belong to the USA, European Union, Canada, Sarc countries and Middle East, while the representatives of foreign NGOs would also be among them, he stated. He added that the foreign observers would have support of over 100 local observers and NGOs in this connection.
Special Representative of ICHR in New York, Syed Murtaza Shah, says that commission had decided to set up its media centres in federal capital, Islamabad, and four provincial capitals Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta and Karachi. These centres would remain in contact with the media representatives, wherein journalists, members of electronic media and the observers would be fully facilitated, he said.
