Chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party Benazir Bhutto on Tuesday arrived Islamabad and party leaders and workers gave her a warm welcome at airport despite tight security and blockades. Benazir Bhutto arrived at Islamabad International Airport through PIA flight PK-308 at 5 pm. The senior party leaders and workers in large number welcomed her.
President Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian Mukhdom Amin Fahim, Senator Dr Safder Abbasi, Former DG FIA, Rehman Malik and Naheed Khan accompanied her. Government had made stringent security measures keeping in view the arrival of Benazir Bhutto as all the roads leading to Islamabad airport were blocked. Parking area of the airport was also vacated and no vehicle or motorcycle was allowed to enter the parking lot.
Passengers coming to airport were forced to travel along with their luggage, which caused problems for them. People who came from other cities and abroad also faced problems at airport due to lack of transport. Huge contingents of police were deployed in and around the airport and City Police Officer Saud Aziz along with other high police officials supervised the security measures. Media people were not allowed to enter the airport.
When contacted the high police officials told mediamen that government has issued strict directives regarding security of Benazir Bhutto and no media would be allowed to approach her.
