AJK government has launched an integrated and broad-based plan to electrify all the remaining parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir including remote and far-flung areas by the end of the current year.
The sources told APP here on Tuesday that the AJK government has determined the priorities for the speedy progress of electricity sectors in the division especially in Mirpur city and the adjoining hamlets as well as in other parts of the division with special focus for the uninterrupted supply of power to the consumers across the liberated territory.
The work is in progress for smooth supply of electricity in all the three districts of Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimbher in Mirpur division under a phased programme to be completed during the current fiscal year of 2007-08, official sources said.
Particular attention was being given to ensure the smooth and stable supply of electricity to the consumers in Mirpur city and the adjoining hamlets-besides other parts of the division, the sources said and added that for this purpose additional transformers were being provided to the electricity department for installation at the recommended sites in the district.
Referring to the upcoming Rs 62 billion Mangla Dam Raising Project, the sources pointed out that the project will usher in the new era of speedy progress and prosperity through bringing about green revolution in the country besides bringing about exceptional socio-economic uplift and prosperity in Azad Kashmir especially in Mirpur district.
The sources said that the ongoing disbursement of the attractive package of incentives for compensation of the previous as well as upcoming affectees of the Mangla Dam Raising project would not only benefit the old and new dam affectees but would also open new avenues for the speedy progress and prosperity in this district.
