Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad has said that objective of the steps taken by the government are to benefit the people, eliminate extremism and terrorism and ensure security and stability of the country, economic flow and continuity of democratic process. He was talking to a delegation of industrialists, which met him at Governor House on Wednesday.
The delegation comprised Masood Naqi, Abdul Haseeb Khan, Gulzar Feroz, Fazal Jalil, Zubair Chhaya, Zahid Bashir and Daud Jhakora. A delegation of senior editors and another delegation of Association of Television Journalists also met the Governor.
The senior editors Mahmood Sham, Talat Aslam, Saeed Khawar and Agha Masood had an exchange of views with the Governor on present situation and gave suggestions with reference to electronic and print media besides discussing continuity of democratic process and other national issues. Television Journalists exchanged views regarding their professional affairs.
The Governor assured that matters concerning journalists arrested on Monday will be given sympathetic consideration. He said the Government has always respected the judiciary and provided record facilities and infrastructure to judiciary for expeditious disposal of cases and ensuring dispensation of justice to people.
Pointing out that freedom given to media too is a credit of the present government, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad said that government wishes moderation and development in every sector. He said extremism is devastated for society.
