Power outages, whether from load shedding or power breakdowns, is not a new phenomenon for Karachiites. While the power supply saga continues unabated adding to the woes of Karachiites, it is important to minimise electricity outages at least due to the continual "tripping" of the units at the two power stations that we have, BQPS and KTPS.
These "tripping" are a clear result of the lack of maintenance by the O&M partner of the utility. It remains a matter for them to look into the continual malfunctioning of the units because of which, we, the consumers, are being made to suffer despite paying our bills regularly.
The notion just makes the consumers wonder as to what Siemens is doing when it comes to ensuring the regular maintenance and efficient running of these units. It goes without saying that it is their responsibility to ensure the smooth running of the units because this is what they are being paid for - and that too heavily from the pockets of the consumers/bill payers!
I would request the relevant government quarters and the concerned authorities to urge Siemens to expedite the work and mitigate the sufferings of Karachiites. The company should undertake repair and maintenance work instead of shrugging away from their responsibilities. If, on the other hand, Siemens is unable to perform the most fundamental task according to the terms of their contract, they should come forward and admit so.
