Raw sugar futures rose in early dealings on Wednesday on speculative fund buying inspired by the continued strength of crude oil prices, brokers said. "We followed crude up and it was largely on fund buying in here. But once we got to the highs, it stalled again when producer and trade selling showed up," a dealer said.
ICE Futures electronic March sugar climbed 0.10 cent to 10.15 cents per lb at 9:25 am EST (1425 GMT), ranging 10.07 to 10.19 cents. Open-outcry volume as of 9:00 am was put at 7,079 lots. Open-outcry volume Tuesday amounted to 10,800 lots and screen trade reached 72,708 contracts, the exchange said.
