There is a dire need to establish new cities to cope with the rapidly increasing population growth as three million people are adding in the country's population annually. Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Syed Raza Ali Gillani said while talking to a delegation of private developers at his residence, here Sunday.
The minister said that provision of residential facility to every citizen is government's top priority and private sector should join hands with the government in this regard.
He said that directions have been issued to all concerned officers to point out state lands in their concerned areas for the establishment of news cities so that this project could come to success. He emphasised the developers to allocate places for plantation inside and outside of houses of new housing colonies to provide better environment to the residents.
The government was seriously considering for legislation in this regard, he added. Syed Raza Ali Gillani said that maximum plots of 5 marla should be reserved in Sialkot and Gujranwala housing schemes for industrial zone worker and low income people. He said that provision of all basic and civic amenities would also be ensured in these schemes.
