National Assembly body briefed about RHCs

The NA Standing Committee on Population Welfare was briefed on the Reproductive Health Centers (RHCs) as these obtained ISO 9001/2000 certification recently are source of quality reproductive health services. The Committee met under the chairpersonship of the MNA, Gul-e-Farkhanda on Monday.
The Technical Director, Dr Mumtaz while briefing the members of the committee regarding the ISO certification of RHCs informed the meeting that these centers have been established in Federal Government Services Hospital, Islamabad and District Headquarters Hospital, Jhelum.
Centers have been established in the Population Welfare outlets in Noor Poor Shahan and Population Welfare Center, Dina also, said the Director. He also informed the meeting that Moblie Service Units (MSUs) have been established in Jhelum, Dina, Sohawa and Talagang centers are successfully providing reproductive health services to the area people. Mumtaz further said that concerted efforts are being made to RHCs par with international level.
The chain of RHCs will be enlarged to the provincial level for better services to men and women equally, he added. The director further informed the meeting that the Minister, Population Welfare, Shabaz Hussain has appreciated the recommendations of the committee assuring to be included in the Population Welfare Program.
Speaking at the occasion, Farkhanda appreciated the efforts of the Population Welfare Ministry regarding ISO-9001/2000 certification of the RHCs saying that these centers are providing services in the far-flung rural areas. She also recommended enhancement RHCs and stressed awareness drive regarding the quality services being provided by these centers.
Further, the members of the Standing Committee visited the RHC established in the Federal Government Services Hospital where Dr Sofia apprised them the services being provided to the mass.
The committee urged the media to participate in the awareness drive among the people living 'Katchi Abadis' should work to curtail the alarming population growth in rural areas. The MNAs Shabina Talat, Nasir, Naseer Rana, Amna Saleem, Chaudhry Liaquat Ali Batti, Chaudhry Aman Ullah Advocate and officials from the Population Welfare Ministry also attended the meeting.
