A delegation of Women Action Forum (WAF) met the deposed Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC), Justice Tariq Pervez at his residence on Monday to pay tributes and express solidarity with him and all those judges of the superior courts who refused oath under PCO and stand for supremacy of constitution.
The delegation presented bouquet to the deposed chief justice and highly praised him and his colleagues for upholding the principles of justice by not taking oath under the PCO, a press release issued here said.
The members of the delegation comprising Rukhshanda Naz, Zubaida Noor, Bushra Gohar, Uzma Mehboob, Shabina Ayaz, Shakila Khan and Saima Muneer assured the deposed PHC chief justice that the Civil Society would be next to none in the struggle for the rule of law being waged by independent -minded judges of the superior courts under the dynamic and wise leadership of the Chief Justice (deposed) of Supreme Court of Pakistan Mr Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.
The delegation members told the honourable chief justice (deposed) that the civil society organisations had chalked out a comprehensive plan to fight the draconian actions being taken under the emergency rule.
The deposed chief justice was in high spirits and expressed the resolve to continue to stand for the rule of law. He took pride in not taking oath under the PCO and expressed his gratitude to all those who had stood behind the independent judiciary and the judges in their struggle for the rule of law.-PR
