Tanzania coffee prices were mixed at this week's auction, with most arabica grades firming due to improved quality, traders said on Friday. The Tanzania Coffee Board (TCB) said 52,596 60-kg bags were offered for sale and 39,591 sold. At last week's auction, 33,390 bags were offered and 19,106 sold.
Benchmark grade AA fetched $118.00-$152.00 per 50-kg bag, compared with $109.40-$138.00 per bag at the last sale. Grade A sold at $114.00-$146.00 per bag, from $110.80-$135.00 last week.
"The auction was mixed depending on quality. Those coffees that were better quality got reasonable prices in comparison to last week," said Charles Cardoso, managing director of Tchibo Trading.
