US MIDDAY: soyabeans at 19-year high

17 Nov, 2007

Chicago Board of Trade soyabean futures rose to a fresh 19-year high early on Friday, lifted by strong weekly export sales data, traders said. Adding support was a drop in the dollar, a bounce in crude oil and concerns that Rio Grande do Sul and Parana, Brazil, were too wet which was causing planting delays.
More rains were headed to southern Brazil on Sunday and Monday. January soyabeans were up 5 cents at $10.83-3/4 and March was up 5-1/4 at $10.99-1/2 at 11:40 am CST (1740 GMT).
The products were also strong with soyaoil at a 33-year top and soyameal notching a three-year top. December soyaoil was up 0.31 cent at 44.97 cents per lb, after climbing to more than 45 cents. December soyameal was 50 cents higher at $294 - climbing to $296 earlier.
