18 Nov, 2007

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Jam Muhammad Yousaf on Saturday said that the provincial cabinet would declare all those settlers local who are living in Quetta since 1952.
Addressing farewell session of Balochistan Assembly here he said that the decision was made by his father Mir Jam Ghulam Qadir and Sardar Attaullah Khan Mengal the then chief minister but was not formally endorsed. He added that during the last five years the provincial government carried out remarkable works for prosperity of people and development of the province.
Apart from other services the provincial government took drastic measures to lessen unemployment. "More than forty thousand youths of the province were inducted in Balochistan Constabulary, 1200 doctors were provided jobs and more than 3000 government employees were promoted".
He called upon the Revenue Department and the CS to pace up the process of provision of ownership rights to the inhabitants of the "Kutchi-Abadis" and said that they are free to take action if there is any ambiguity in the process.
Jam asserted that there can be difference on the nature of the incumbent government but "there should be no two opinions that the government gave exemplary freedom to every department and carried out unprecedented development work in Balochistan". He expressed satisfaction over the fact that despite serious political crisis in the country the assemblies completed their tenure.
Referring to positive impacts of mega development schemes he said that they would make Balochistan hub of commercial and economic activities and bring about positive social change. The CM paid tributes to the sincerity of President Musharraf towards Balochistan and said that the province was given more than its share.
Jam also extolled the performance of opposition parties in the house and said that they played the role of "an actual" opposition and guided the government befittingly. He also hailed the role of the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker and other employees of the assembly and said that they ran the house remarkably.
He also announced one extra salary as a bonus for the employees of the assembly. Members of Treasury Benches including Provincial Finance minister Syed Ehsan Shah, Asim Kurd Gailo, Mir Asghar Rind, Mir Amanullah Khan Notezai and others appreciated the performance of the house. The Assembly session started at 11 am with Speaker Jamal Shah Kakar in chair. The Speaker adjourned the session indefinitely.
