LPG Distributors Association Pakistan (LPGDAP) chairman Abdul Hadi Khan has welcomed the interim government set-up and expressed the hope that it will adopt a comprehensive agenda to control the rising prices of liquefied petroleum gas and provide relief to the end consumers.
"We have witnessed an unusual increase in the price of LPG in last few years which in turn has decreased its sales volume, Hadi Khan, who is also senior vice president of FPCCI standing committee for petroleum and gas, said in a statement here on Saturday. In last five years, the price of LPG has increased by Rs 23,873/- per ton and Rs 275/-per domestic cylinder, he said.
He said, because of decline in sales, distributors have shut their businesses while various companies investing in LPG sector have also stopped their operations. On account of fixation of high prices by the producers against the ground realities, as many as 15 prospective investors have put off their investment plans in the sector, he claimed. Hadi Khan also called for delinking the price of local LPG with the international market.
