Taiwan share prices are set to consolidate after suffering a bout of losses against a backdrop of worries about the health of the US economy, dealers said on Friday. The stock market could have some technical support at around the 8,600 points level, they added.
The market was unlikely to jump over the critical 9,000 points hurdle soon as daily trading volumes were declining, they said. For the week to November 16, the weighted index closed down 206.10 points or 2.30 percent at 8,764.82. It had fallen 3.26 percent a week earlier. Average daily turnover stood at 128.83 billion Taiwan dollars (3.99 billion US), compared with 153.92 billion dollars a week ago.
