Shaukat still Prime Minister on ministries' websites

20 Nov, 2007

Although Muhammedmian Soomro has sworn in as caretaker Prime Minister on November 16, but the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Finance are still displaying the name of Shaukat Aziz as prime minister on their websites.
A visit of websites of all the ministries reveals that only a few have bothered to change the photographs of their new ministers but the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Finance are still showing Aziz as the country's Prime Minister.
The 'efficiency' of the Foreign Ministry can be judged from the fact that it did not even change the names of previous cabinet of Aziz and showing Mian Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri as Foreign Minister ignoring the fact that Inamul Haque has taken the charge of the ministry.
The website of the Finance Ministry is also showing Shaukat Aziz as Prime Minister and Finance Minister notwithstanding that Dr Salman Shah has taken oath as Finance Minister. Nonetheless, the Ministries of Commerce, Industry, Information Technology and Information and Broadcasting have posted the names of their new ministers on their websites.
The portfolio of Minister for Water and Power is still vacant, as the minister- designate Tariq Hamid did not take oath on November 16 due to some misunderstanding within the coordination officials of federal government. He is expected to take oath in a couple of days.
The Ministries of Interior, Law and Justice, Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Housing and Works and Health, Labour and Social Welfare have also failed to post the names and photographs of their new heads on their websites.
