Caretaker Finance Minister of Sindh, Dewan Mohammed Yusuf Farooqi has become the minister in Sindh cabinet for the second time. He was the minister in Sindh provincial government for Industries, Labour, Transport, Mines & Mineral Development, Local Government, Housing & Town Planning and Kachi Abadis from October 1999 till 2003.
A recipient of Sitara-e-Imtiaz (SI), Dewan Yusuf Farooqi is a prominent and one of the leading industrialist of the country. It was his commitment and dedication, which made him stand out as an outstanding industrialist for which President Pervez Musharraf decided to confer Sitara-e-Imtiaz to him for being the highest industrial investor of Pakistan.
Farooqi is the Group Managing Director of Dewan Mushtaq Group (DMG), the basic aim of which is to benefit the people including customers, employees and shareholders, and to fulfil their commitment to the society.
The group enjoys the confidence of general public, local and foreign capital markets, financial institutions and the government with an annual turnover exceeding 850 million dollars.
Farooqi is a great sports lover and is the president of the Sindh Squash Association. He is also patron in chief of many sports clubs and is involved in sponsoring major sports and cultural events in Pakistan.

Farooqi is also playing an active role in the development of educational institutions in rural areas. At all DMG plant locations, the group has established schools providing highest level of education at par with urban schools. The schools are recognised by the Board of Education, Government of Pakistan. Education is provided free of cost together with uniforms, syllabus and meals.
