Journalists community of Multan continued their protest on Wednesday against strict curbs on media following declaration of emergency rule by General Musharraf in the country and police torture on mediamen in Karachi on the other day.
A protest rally was organised by PFUJ (Dastoori group), which was led by Rao Shamim Asghar Secretary General PFUJ and others senior journalists, while another demonstration was held by MUJ (Barna group) led by Nadeem Shah, Hameed-ul-Hassan, Abdul Sattar Qamar and others. The rally and demonstration were also joined by activists of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and Pakistan Peoples Party.
Participants of the rally were carrying black flags and placards inscribed with slogans against media curbs, emergency and Provincial Constitutional Order (PCO). They demanded immediate lifting of ban on certain TV channels. Earlier a protest meeting was held in the Multan Press Club, where speakers vehemently condemned the brutality against protesting journalists at Karachi and other parts of the country.
