Raw sugar futures were flat in early business on Wednesday as players tweaked positions in front of the long holiday weekend, brokers said. ICE Futures electronic March sugar was flat at 9.75 cents per lb at 9:12 am EST (1412 GMT), trapped between 9.74 and 9.82 cents.
"It's just pre-holiday manoeuvring by the guys. We're waiting to take off and people are already looking toward next week," said a floor dealer for a financial house. Open-outcry volume Tuesday hit 6,590 lots and screen trade hit 54,400 contracts, the exchange said.
