Prices of a few items rise on grain market

Seed prices of a few items went up on the grain market on Thursday as most of the dealers kept on the sidelines in process of trading, dealers said. Prices moved both ways in the grain market on Wednesday.
A few commodity experts were of the view that as a result of sharp fall in the dollar's value, the oil prices hit all-time high, surging to a record 99.29 dollars a barrel, this factor is a leading reason behind the high rise in the food and non-food products.
Oil retreated below 98 US dollars in Asia trading after rising to within striking distance of the symbolic 100-dollar level. On the seed side castorseed Lasbela gained Rs 25 to Rs 975. Castorseed Sindh picked up same amount at Rs 950. Other items did not move any side during the day, they added.
Cottonseed oilcake with bag old low type maintained its overnight level while the better type lost Rs 20 to Rs 600, they said. From Sindh new type low variety fell by Rs 20 to Rs 650 and good type shed Rs 15 to Rs 670, they said.
On the rice counter Irri-6 Sindh quoted lower at Rs 1880, Irri-white low type lost Rs 20 to Rs 1560 and good type was down by Rs 5 to Rs 1565, other items maintained the overnight levels, they said.
