'Peace is achieved through strength'

Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro said that the armed forces have always rendered valuable services to the nation by helping other civil administration in challenging situations.
He said that every Pakistani is proud of the role played by the armed forces in maintaining internal and external security particularly their role during the earthquake and devastating floods in Sindh and Balochistan. Soomro was talking to minister for Defence Saleem Abbas Jilani who called on him at the Prime Minister's Secretariat here on Friday.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan is a peace loving country and does not harbour aggressive designs against any other country, nevertheless, we believe that peace is achieved through strength for which we will continue to maintain a minimum credible defence.
The minister for defence while updating the Prime Minister about various initiatives taken by the Ministry of Defence to modernise the armed forces and enhance the capabilities, said that efforts are being made to increase the reliance on domestic technology to upgrade our defence needs. He assured that the armed forces would always come forth for any national obligation to ensure the integrity and solidarity of the country.
