24 Nov, 2007

Residents of village Malana, in Parchinar, have sent an SOS to Benazir Bhutto, complaining that 150 people had been killed by militants. Expressing shock over this report, in a statement issued on Friday she accused the regime of turning blind eye to the grim situation in Parachinar, and leaving the residents of the village at the mercy of extremists.
The message sent to her said that the militants were targeting members of a particular sect, and the FC opened fire on the victims when they took up arms in self-defence.
In addition, the message alleged that gunship helicopter had been used to attack the place of worship of the victims. The PPP chairperson has urged the government to 'immediately send reinforcements in the area and rescue the besieged and terrified people.'
