Pesco extends short dialling facility to consumers

Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) has provided short dialling telephone facility to its consumers at 18 different places in the province. The provision of the facility would enable consumers to dial 118 for easy and early redressal of their complaints and problems.
This was announced by Chief Executive Pesco, Brigadier Sakhi Marjan while presiding over a meeting of Superintending Engineers (S.Es) here at WAPDA House. The meeting reviewed the performance of all circles of the company. The meeting analysed the pace of progress in heads of line losses reduction, recovery and provision of facilities to the consumers. The Chief Executive directed the field staff to further make the company consumer friendly.
Chief Engineer (Operations) Jehanzeb Khan, Chief Engineer (O&M) T&G Rustam Zad Gul, Imtiaz Ahmad Tanoli, Human Resources and Admin Director and senior Pesco officers, attended the meeting. All S.Es of Pesco presented progress of their respective circles for the last month.
Chief Executive Pesco Brigadier Sakhi Marjan reviewed the over all performance of different circles in the last month and expressed satisfaction over the performance of few circles. The meeting specially hailed the performance of Hazara circle and showed concern over the poor performance of some divisions and sub divisions.
He appreciated the efforts of the officials for bringing 1percent increase in recovery that climbed to 86.4percent. He directed the officials to meet the targets already set for reduction in line losses and increase in recovery. He said that the efficiency of each and every employee will be reviewed on regular basis and warned stern action against inefficient and dishonest officials.
He said that the officials showing poor progress would be demoted by two steps, while the executive engineers showing good performance would be rewarded and they would be nominated for Chairman WAPDA Award.
Brigadier Sakhi Marjan said that top priority was to provide better services to consumers with professional conduct. In order to further facilitate the consumers, he said, short dialling telephone facility of 118 has been provided in various cities throughout the province and now consumers can contact immediately for easy redressal of their complaints and problems.
It includes, Crisis Management Centre Pesco, Head Quarter Peshawar, Customer Services Centre Hayatabad, Charsadda Sub Division, Customer Services Centre Mardan, Customer Services Centre Swabi, Customer Services Centre, Abbottabad, Customer Services Center Bannu, Customer Services Center Swat, Taimergara Sub Division, Chakdara Sub Division, Dir Sub Division, Chitral Sub Division, Kabbal Sub Division, Matta Sub Division, Khawazakhela Sub Division and Kalam, Dargai Bazar and Batkhela-II Complaint offices.
He directed the Pesco officials to resolve the electricity problems of consumers on top priority. The field offices were also directed to immediately respond to the complaints, so that consumers may not face any difficulty.
He said that in order to overcome the problems of overloading and frequent power break downs, work on system augmentation and installation of high power transformers at various grid stations is in progress. Similarly work on the construction of a number of new grid stations is also in progress to reduce the difficulties faced by the consumers.
The chief executive Pesco said that the company has started a number of electricity schemes worth millions of rupees throughout the province and directed the completion of the ongoing developmental schemes within stipulated time frame.
Taking serious view of increasing trend of power pilferage in different areas, he said the illegal use of electricity was causing problems for consumers resulting in frequent breakdowns and inflicting financial losses to the company. He directed the officials to make all out efforts to curb the Kunda culture.
Chief Executive Pesco also directed the officials to take all possible steps to overcome the energy crisis and to create awareness among the people about conservation of energy.
He also urged the industrial consumers to extend their cooperation to save at least 30percent energy and all commercial consumers to close all the shopping plazas and shops before 8.00 p m sharp and switch off all the street lights alternatively. He also requested the domestic consumers to use energy savers and tube lights instead of bulbs so that energy could be saved.
Earlier, all Superintending Engineers of Pesco briefed the Pesco Chief about the performance of their respective circles on the status of line losses, recovery, pace of work on developmental projects, revenue collection and improvements in customer services etc.
