The average price of Bangladesh teas rose slightly to 89.32 taka ($1.30) per kg at the weekly auction on Tuesday, brokers said. "Nearly 1.87 million kg were sold at an average price of 89.32 taka per kg, up 0.11 taka from the previous sale.
The withdrawal percentage was 8.34," said an executive of the National Brokers Limited, the country's largest tea broker. Buyers from Pakistan, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Bangladesh participated in the weekly auction.
"Pakistan buyers lent fair support and there was some interest from CIS, as a result the average price advanced slightly," an auctioneer said. Different grades were sold between 70 taka and 161 taka per kg. The next weekly auction will be held on December 4, with an expected offering of 1.77 million kg.
