Housing industry: Phata urged to follow modern methods

Punjab Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Minister Mian Shafqat Ali has said that construction cost can be decreased by following modern technology; in future, government housing colonies ought to follow the new construction methods.
He expressed these views while presiding over a departmental meeting here on Wednesday, disclosed an official. Phata Director General, Shehzad Jamil and other high ranking officers were also present on the occasion.
The Minister directed that Phata should adapt modern methods for developing housing industry according to the changing environmental trends and ever increasing population.
This would help in decreasing the construction cost and increasing the number of residential units, he added. Shafqat Ali further said that private developers should allocate special quota in their housing projects to facilitate the low-income segments of the society.
