Seven more flour mills closed

The Punjab Food Department on its continued inspection operation against irregularities of flour mills has closed Alkram and Syed Flour Mills in Rahimyar Khan, Chaudhry Flour Mills and Thotha Flour Mills in Bahawalpur, Faran Flour Mills in Laiya, Rehmat Flour Mills Islamabad and Latif Majeed Flour Mills in Rawalpindi, official said.
These units were found involved in various irregularities such as less grinding of grain, submission of fictitious statements to the department regarding their sales and more importantly their packing was not as per instructions of the department, they pointed out.
The department also allowed OK Flour Mills Gujranwala and Mehboob Flour Mills Rawalpindi to restart their operations after the assurance from their management to abide by rules and regulations in future, the officials said. Meanwhile the Punjab Food Department has established a telephone helpline 0800-13-25 in Food Directorate for the public to lodge their complaints for overcharging etc.
