Lawyers of Rawalpindi have appealed Bar Councils and Bar Associations of the country to erect one Board of Honour and one Board of Traitors in the Bars to encourage righteous people and discourage the evil persons in the legal profession.
In a resolution adopted by the Rawalpindi District Bar Association (RDBA) on Thursday, the lawyers have decided to hang two more boards in the bar-one Board of Honour for the judges who have refused to take oath under PCO and another Board of Traitors for judges and lawyers who took oath under PCO and accepted it by appearing in the courts. The meeting was presided over Sardar Asmatullah Khan, President High Court Bar Association and Khalid Ismael Abbasi, President RDBA.
The lawyers after the meeting held a protest demonstration and marched in the court premises while chanting slogans against emergency and suppression of media and judiciary.
In its resolution the legal fraternity called upon Bar Associations of the country to observe complete social boycott of the judges of Supreme Court and High Courts and lawyers who represented the government. Legal fraternity strived for rule of law and supremacy and independence of judiciary and faced terrible suppression, force and detentions, while few black sheeps have breached the fraternity's code of conduct and are enjoying laurels, the resolution said.
Lawyers reaffirmed their pledge to cancel membership of these so-called seniors, completely boycotting them and banning their entry in bar. Lawyers also pledged to continue struggle for restoration of democracy and independence of judiciary and media in the country.
