The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) is launching Internet Based Distance Learning Programme (IBDLP) from Spring-2008 session. An announcement to this effect was made by the spokesperson of the ICMAP here on Friday.
It was pointed out that the ICMAP has also been offering distance learning education through its correspondence course. In fact, it has served as the first open University of Pakistan. Currently bold and innovative initiatives are being taken to provide professional education through digital devices.
The ICMAP has so far produced over 3,200 qualified members and today has approximately 23,000 students on its rolls. It has been offering formal professional education in 16 cities of Pakistan and abroad, it was further stated.
Under this IBDLP programme, lectures will be available on CDs. It will facilitate students living in remote areas and out-sides Pakistan. Students will get opportunity to interact with the counsellors for guidance on regular basis through Internet.
Two online tests will be conducted to test the students' overall progress on the course. On successful completion of IBDLP session and passing one of the two online tests, students will be eligible to appear in ICMAP examinations nationally, internationally.
In this connection, launching seminars are being held where a presentation on IBDLP will be delivered at Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad and Multan. The first seminar will be held in Karachi on December 2 at the seminar hall of the ICMAP in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, it was announced.
