'Solve people's problems'

01 Dec, 2007

This is to make an earnest appeal to President Pervez Musharraf to address the problems faced by the people at large, mainly the continuous price hike of essential articles and provide them with as much relief as possible.
President Pervez Musharraf should be well aware of the bitter fact that rising prices of daily use items have made the life of the common man miserable as it is becoming difficult with the passage of time to make both ends meet within the meagre resources.
There are also reports in the newspapers that as winter is setting in, tariffs of electricity and natural gas are also being revised upwardly. If these reports are true, then the common man is going to suffer more in the coming days for want of basic amenities of life for himself and his children in the winter months.
I remember Pervez Musharraf in an interview shortly after proclamation of a state of emergency had stated that the people at large are more concerned about their problems, prices of daily use items etc.
He had also announced that through a presidential ordinance, the hoarders, profiteers and blackmarketeers of essential articles would be taken to task with an iron hand in order to provide much needed relief in prices of kitchen items to the common man. This relief is still awaited while the hoarders, profiteers and blackmarketeers are minting huge money by fleecing the general public.
The President should address the problems faced by the people at large on priority basis. The people are more concerned as a matter of fact with the economic issues such as prices of essential articles and uninterrupted supply of wheat, rice, sugar, pulses etc, at reasonable rates without any further delay. They have already been fleeced by the hoarders, profiteers and blackmarketeers beyond their capacity and tolerance. President Musharraf should act now and pull up the administrative machinery before it is too late.
