The lineup of vessels waiting to load sugar in Brazilian ports fell to 37 ships from 39 ships a week ago, shipping agent Williams said Thursday. In a weekly report, Williams said 20 vessels were lined up in the southern port of Santos, compared with 29 last week. There were 7 vessels at Paranagua, the same as a week ago.
The center-south, which accounts for 85 percent of national sugar cane output, has already harvested around 85 percent of a record crop. Santos port accounted for 68 percent of the sugar tonnage being loaded in Brazilian ports.
