PMI starts paying Rs 15,000 monthly stipend to doctors

The Postgraduate Medical Institute (PMI) has started paying Rs 15,000 monthly stipend to all doctors undergoing training in the institute and at the Lahore General Hospital from November 1. Ups to 100 postgraduate trainees were working at the Lahore General Hospital without stipend.
Institute Principal Professor Dr Sajjad Hussain told trainee doctors at the Lahore General Hospital auditorium on Tuesday that it was highly necessary to pay stipend to all trainee doctors to reduce their financial problems and encourage them to seek training and perform professional duties.
Professor Sajjad said the institute and hospital administration was trying hard to provide maximum modern training facilities at the institute. He stressed that the trainees must toil and conduct more and more research work to excel in the medical field.
He said the hard work done in the training would help take young doctors to places in the world. The principal stressed on the faculty members to guide and train the young doctors. Lahore General Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Umer Farooq said he hoped the postgraduate trainee doctors would concentrate on providing best medical treatment facilities to patients. Faculty members and postgraduate trainee doctors were also present.
