The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued notices to the component parties of the Mutahidda Majlis-e-Ammal (MMA) to appear before it for hearing on allotment of symbols.
Secretary EC, Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad in a statement issued on Tuesday said that CEC, Justice Qazi Muhammad Farooq (Retd) has directed for notices to the Presidents and Secretaries General of Jamiat Ulama-i-Islam Pakistan (F), Jamat-e-Islami, Markazi Jamiat-Ahle-Hadiath, Jamiat Ulma-i-Islam Pakistan (S), Jamiat Ulmae-i-Pakistan, Islami Tehrik-e-Pakistan, the component parties of the Mutahidda Majlis-i-Ammal for appearing before the Election Commission on December,9 (Sunday) at 9:30 am in its secretariat for hearing regarding allotment of symbols.
The decision to issue notices to above referred parties was taken at the Election Commission of Pakistan in a meeting held on December 3.
Dilshad further said that Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Ameer, Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam, Pakistan, a component of MMA had requested for allotment of symbol "Book", whereas Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, another component of MMA had requested for allotment of symbol "Umbrella".
In view of the fact that the MMA is a coalition party, the EC has decided to hear the representatives of the component parties before allotment of symbols to them.
