First mobility workshop inaugurated

The first complete mobility workshop in the world was inaugurated at the premises of Disable Welfare Association in Lines Area. The entire workshop has been donated by Siemens Pakistan. The inauguration was the hallmark of events leading up to world disability day and was attended by office bearers of the association not only from Pakistan but around the world.
Ghulam Nabi Nizamani Vice President Asia of Disabled Peoples International speaking on the occasion paid rich tribute to Siemens and said this workshop is unique as such workshops are not available even in developed countries and this marks a landmark in assistance to the disabled in the country. He said he was greatly impressed by the speed at which this workshop was established as it was only a few months ago that the association had requested MD Siemens for such a workshop.
Jawaid Rais President Disable Welfare Association thanked Siemens for this generous fight which will help disabled people earn an honest living and not be a burden on others. Sohail Wajahat H. Siddiqui Managing Director Siemens speaking on the occasion lauded the dignity of the physically challenges who despite their handicap are struggling to earn an honest living so as not to become a burden on society.
The workshop has been established to further boost the Mobilink - Self Respect Scheme which is a Project of DWA and World Bank. It aims to bring a huge change in the life of physically challenged personal. It not only enables them to move independently but also brings them a meal of earning respectable wages. The workshop consists of latest machinery to repair/design and alter vehicles to make them suitable for the physically challenge. A stand by generator has also been installed and a Suzuki will also be provided by Siemens for emergency duty.-PR
