Three persons involved in arms smuggling arrested

The CIA Police City Division has arrested three criminals involved in selling arms weapons from the Raiwind area and seized a heavy cache of more than 8,000 bullets and mobile phones.
The police are carrying out a campaign in the provincial metropolis against having illicit weapons following an order by Capital City Police Officer Additional Inspector General Malik Muhammad Iqbal.
The police have set up teams made up of officers of both the Investigation and Operation Wings with Investigation Deputy Inspector General Tassaduq Hussain, adding a special team headed by SP CIA Chaudry Masood Aziz and made up of DSP CIA City Division and other officials which got information about the said culprits that they are involved in smuggling of illegal weapons from Peshawar and tribal area and selling them not only in Lahore but also other districts of the province.
In its first phase the police team raided Hassan Brothers ammunition dealer on Manga Road Raiwind City and arrested its owner, Fazal ul Rehman and seized three pistols and bullets from him and registered a case against him. During investigation, the criminal confessed that Arif Gull was also involved in such business and the police also arrested him and recovered 18 guns and 12 magazines from his possession.
Subsequently, police raided another shop and arrested Yaqoob from Bhatti Chowk Raiwind and recovered one pistol and bullets from his shop and later, after investigation police recovered a heavy cache of illegal arms from his house. The police recovered eight rifles, 26 guns, 34 pistols and revolvers, one mouser, one breeta pistol, eight thousand bullets, 49 magazines, 4 knives, 4 cell phones, iron boxes, spare barrels as well as other articles from them. Cases have been registered against Muhammad Yaqoob, Fazal ul Rehman and Arif Gull in police station Riwind and further investigation is in progress.
