Mayo hospital land case: ACE summons revenue department officials

07 Dec, 2007

Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment Director General Muhammad Aslam Ghumman has called for an inquiry into a case of illegal occupation of land by a mafia gang trying to sell the land of the Mayo Hospital worth billion of rupees located on Napier, Thorton, Rattan Chand, Club and Katcha Napier Roads.
He has ordered his additional counterpart to conduct the detailed inquiry. The ACE on Thursday summoned Revenue and Settlement Department officials with a relevant record.
The Mayo Hospital administration told Ghumman that the mafia had illegally occupied its land worth billion of rupees and later transferred it to people on a fake permanent transfer deed, after being helped by the Revenue and Settlement Departments. An inquiry later showed that the illegal occupants had planned to sell the land in shape of plots of different sizes and also displayed banners. Ghumman said the detailed inquiry would be conducted and no one would be spared. He said all involved in this crime would be exposed.
