Violation of section 144: case registered against over 100 lawyers

Police have registered a case against more than 100 lawyers including President and General Secretary of District Bar Multan for violating the section 144 and attacking the police posse and thrashing a number of policemen on Thursday.
When contacted the SSP (Operation) Muhammad Nawaz Waraich said "we have registered a case against the lawyers who attacked the policemen and injured them but no arrest has been made yet."
District Bar President Muhammad Akram Bhatti said that Police resorted to baton charge ruthlessly and injured some of the senior lawyers adding even journalists were beaten and they would move to the court against the police action.
Lawyers on Friday continued the boycott of court proceedings, hoisted black flags and staged rallies within the boundary of district court demanding an end to the emergency rule, reinstatement of dismissed judges and the restoration of the Constitution.
