Former minister allowed to contest election

08 Dec, 2007

An election tribunal accepting an appeal by former federal minister Nasir Khan has allowed him to contest the election from NA-122. A returning officer had rejected his nomination papers because the former minister claimed that his degree was never equivalent to a bachelors.
The former minister claimed he had passed his degree in Kenya and that the Higher Education Commission had issued him a certificate equivalent to a bachelor's degree. Tribunal has also issued notices to other petitioners, including former member of the Provincial Assembly Akhtar Rasool and Dr Asaad Ashraf for December 10.
