The transatlantic market operator NYSE Euronext said on December 05 its cash markets had their busiest month ever in November, with combined volume on the Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels and Lisbon stock exchanges soaring 68.3 percent to 33.6 million transactions from a year earlier.
The London-based Liffe derivatives market, part of the NYSE Euronext group, was also active last month, as more than 82 million futures and options contracts were traded, a 38.1 percent year-on-year improvement, according to NYSE Euronext.
US exchanges within the NYSE Group reported 3.3 billion shares handled per day in November, up 26.8 percent from November 2006. On Euronext's cash markets, more than 300 million deals had been registered in the 11 months to November, a 48.5 percent leap from the same period in 2006, the company said.
