Maulana Fazalur Rehman, Secretary General Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal said Monday that JUI-F would try to persuade Jamaat-i-Islami to take part in elections at the forthcoming MMA's supreme council meeting to be held in Islamabad on Tuesday.
He said this at a press conference after meeting with the delegation of Islamic countries envoys headed by Saudi Ambassador. Maulana further added that his analysis regarding the elections boycott was right as Jamaat-i-Islami is alongside the APMD boycotting the elections after PML-N took a U-turn to take part in the polls.
It would be in favour of MMA and Jamaat-i-Islami to participate in the elections instead of boycotting, he remarked. The present situation demands that MMA should review its decision and contest elections from one platform, he added.
He reiterated that despite election's boycott by Jamaat-i-Islami, the second largest component of the six party-alliance, MMA would remain intact in future and JUI would play its due role.
"Political issues could be settled through public mandate rather than staying away from elections", he added. He was critical of the APDM's role, saying that it broke the political alliances instead of uniting it due to its hasty decisions.
"Since the APC held in London in July, ARD and APDM were parted ways and now the MMA is also at the brink of disaster", he remarked. To a question, he said that envoys of Islamic countries are in favour of political parties participantance in the elections.
Maulana Fazalur Rehman said that the diplomats were told at the meeting that his party believes in resolving the issues politically and would play positive role in future.
His party, he said, wants restoration of Constitution and reinstatement of the judges. He said that he was in favour of the seat-to-seat adjustment with all the opposition parties but it seems impossible due to differences in opinions.
